3D+ Spatial Biology: Current Challenges & Pitfalls in Spatial Biology
Dear colleague
In late 2024 the European Society for Spatial Biology (ESSB) emerged with great support among the scientists in Europe and beyond showing that it was about time the community crystallized in a structure to organize its needs. Among these needs, the primary goal of a platform to exchange ideas, concepts and results achieved already with its inaugural conference and keeps attracting a growing number of scientists from academia and industry.
Already at this first meeting we felt the need to shape and drive important topics within Spatial Biology, amongst others, which direction to develop the field since we consider this to be one of the most important tasks a society might refer to.
However, to know where to go we first need to learn about us! What are our challenges, what our solutions and needs?
This survey aims at collecting this fundamental information allowing us to describe the status quo in the field. We further expect the answers to mirror the burning questions across several subtopics of spatial biology to identify the hot topics we need to tackle first. Lastly, we seek to develop standards all can agree to and consensus among us necessary to move the field forward.
